How do you use AI in your work?

I occasionally use AI as a supportive tool, but never as a replacement for my own work. It’s something I use thoughtfully to save time or refine specific elements - for example, pulling together a front cover or fine‑tuning the wording on a particularly tricky part of a policy.AI does not create my paperwork.  It simply assists me in small areas where it’s helpful.  I don’t rely on it, because it cannot match my many years of knowledge and experience in early years, teaching, and childminding. I may use it as a starting point, but I often find it inaccurate with technical or sector‑specific details, so I always verify information myself.My work is grounded in thorough research, attention to detail, and original sources. I prefer to do my own checking to ensure everything I create for the childminding community is accurate, reliable, and genuinely useful — exactly as it’s intended to be.

How do I pay for my purchase?

You can pay for your order using either Stripe or PayPal, depending on what suits you best.Stripe (Debit or Credit Card)   If you choose the Checkout button, you’ll be able to pay securely using a debit or credit card through Stripe.  You’ll be asked to enter an email address so your order confirmation and download link can be sent directly to you.  Please make sure this email address is one you can access, as all digital files are delivered electronically.PayPal   You can also pay using your PayPal account.  Please only select this option if you have access to the email address linked to your PayPal profile.  PayPal automatically sends your order confirmation and download link to that email, and there is no way to override or change it during the purchase process.Both payment methods are secure and processed by trusted third‑party providers.  If you ever have trouble accessing your download link, just get in touch.

Why are some products digital and others printed?

Each product is offered in the format that best suits its purpose, practicality, and real‑world use. Every item is chosen carefully - nothing is random or one‑size‑fits‑all.Digital files are ideal for documents you may need to edit, personalise, reuse, or print as needed. They’re instant, flexible, and easy to update. Some items  - like the policy pack - are only available digitally because every setting is unique. A printed, generic policy wouldn’t be professional or suitable, so digital ensures you can tailor it properly for your own environment.Printed products are used when a physical copy is simply more practical - especially for items you’ll handle often, refer to quickly, or want ready-made without needing to print anything yourself. They also take into account that some people don’t have a suitable printer, or may be trying to save costs by avoiding home‑printing altogether.Some products, like the planner, are printed because they need proper covers, sturdy binding, and durable materials that simply can’t be achieved on a home printer. These items are designed to be long‑lasting, professional, and ready to use straight away.In short: each product is created in the format that makes it easiest to use, clearest in your setting, and most helpful in real life — whether that means a flexible digital file or a professionally printed, durable physical copy.

Hello!  I’m Sam Heaven, the creator behind all of the paperwork and printed resources available here. I established my paperwork business in 2019 after being unable to find clear, high‑quality, practical documents for my own childminding setting. What began as a personal need has grown into a well‑respected resource hub shaped by thorough research, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.I bring many years of experience across early years, teaching, and childminding, and I’m an avid researcher with a strong focus on original sources, best practice, and clarity. What does 'digital paperwork' mean?

Digital paperwork are documents you buy online and receive via email, instead of having them delivered to your door as a hard copy.   This means you can download the files straight to your compatible device and depending upon the individual document, you can either type into it and/or print it out to use in your setting. How do I get the digital documents?

I pay my website provider for a system that sends out instant, automatic download links the moment you’ve made your purchase, so there’s no waiting around for me to manually email anything -  it all happens straight away.Your pack is ready as a digital download as soon as you’ve checked out. If you’re on your phone or tablet, please don’t tap the link - most devices can’t open these packs properly and it’ll waste your one‑time download.Instead, open your emails on your laptop or computer and click the automatic download link that’s been sent to you. The link is valid for 30 days, and once you’ve downloaded your pack you can save it somewhere safe and use it as many times as you like.There’s also a direct download link on the checkout page, so you can pop it straight onto your computer right away if that’s easier.You'll find more information in the Digital Paperwork Policy.

Question 8

I haven't got the download link, what should I do?

Here are some reasons why you may not have got the link and what you can do about it!First of all, please look for it in your spam/junk folder! Check that you actually completed you purchase and your basket isn't waiting at the self scan till for you!If you are paying via Paypal, the download link will be sent automatically to your Paypal email address.  There have been many instances of customers not being able to access their Paypal emails, as they set them up many years ago.  If you find yourself in this position, please get in touch and I can update the email address manually and resend the link.
Typos can be made when adding email addresses, so the links won't be received.  If you think this may have happened, please get in touch with your order number and the correct email address so I can check this for you and fix it.

Question 9

My download link doesn't work, how do I sort this out?

The link is valid for 30 days and it only works once.  Sometimes people forget to downlaod it in time, or accidentally download the digital document to a device that just isn't compatible to display it - for example, opening a Word document download on their phone.  This means the link is used up, so cannot be downloaded in the proper way, as described in the Digital Paperwork Policy.In this scenario, just get in touch with me, cite your order number and the name you ordered with, and I can resend the download link to you.

Why can't I open the file on my phone/tablet?

Whether a file will open on your device depends on two things: the type of document and what your phone, tablet, or computer can handle. Every item in the shop has a detailed description so you can see exactly what format it comes in and make an informed choice before buying. But as there are so many different devices out there, it’s not possible for me to list what works with what, so it’s always worth checking your own phone or tablet’s capabilities. Below is a simple rundown of the file types I use and what they work best on.PDFs are usually open perfectly on smartphones, tablets, and computers.  They are not editable, they’re great for reading, printing, and saving.Word documents really do need to be opened on a laptop or computer using Microsoft Word or an equivalent app like Apple Pages or Google Docs. They are fully editable and formatting can become skewed on some devices. Phones often can’t open Word documents properly at all, which can waste your one‑time download link.ZIP folders must be downloaded to a laptop or computer.  It is just a compressed bundle of files and once it’s saved, you’ll need to unzip or extract it before you can use the documents inside. Phones and tablets generally can’t open ZIP folders correctly, so they’re best avoided for these downloads.Taking all of this into account, I always recommend downloading your packs to a laptop or computer. It’s the most reliable option, and it also makes it much easier to save everything into a memorable folder so you can find your documents quickly whenever you need them.If the download link has accidentally been used up by trying to download to an incompatible device, please get in touch and I can resend the link.

What files are the documents sent as?

This will depend upon the pack that is being purchased and whether it is more suited to being a PDF or Word document.  For example, a document that requires no editing will be sent as a PDF, but something that needs tailoring to a setting before it can be used, like the policies pack, will be sent as a Word document. The larger packs that contain more than one document are sent as ZIP folders, which simply means all the PDFs and Word documents are bundled together in one compressed file. Smaller packs come as single PDFs or Word documents, so they download as a straightforward file rather than a folder. Each item in the shop has a detailed description to explain what it is so an informed choice can be made before purchasing.For more information, please see

Can I get a refund of digital paperwork?

I accidentally ordered two identical digital packs, can I get a refund?

If this happens, just get in touch and let me know what’s gone on. I may be willing to refund one of the duplicate packs, but please be aware that the payment processor fees will be deducted from the amount returned.To explain why: every time a purchase is made through my website, I’m charged a small fee by the payment processor. If I issue a refund, I don’t get that fee back, which means I’m out of pocket — and my profit margins are already tight.So in this situation, the refund would be the purchase price minus the processor’s fee, and that adjusted amount is what would be returned to you.Here is the full Refund and Returns Policy.

Can I edit the document and add my own logo to it?

This will depend upon the document.  If it's a PDF then no, as it's ready to print and it's not editable. If it's a Word document, then yes, as it's fully editable and you can make any text  and aesthetic changes so it fully suits your setting.

I don't have a printer, so how can I print a document?

Accepted Answer

If you don’t have a printer, there are still a couple of options. Depending on the documents you’ve bought and how you plan to use it in your setting, you might not need to print it at all - many documents can simply be viewed on your laptop or computer instead.If it’s something you do need printed, just send me a quick courtesy email explaining the situation. I’m happy to give permission for the document to be forwarded to someone outside your setting who can print it for you.If you often find yourself stuck without a printer, it may be worth investing in one that suits your budget. Personally, I use an HP printer with the HP Instant Ink service and I’ve found it to be brilliant. There are different plans depending on how much you print, the ink gets posted out automatically, the cartridges can be recycled, and it can save a small fortune over time.

I didn't download my pack within the 30 days and the link has expired, what can I do now?

I run an agency/organisation -  can I purchase your pack to share with my members?

The short answer is no!  Individuals are welcome to purchase my packs for their own setting, but I do not give permission for agencies, organisations or charities to purchase my packs for distribution within their businesses.  More information can be found in the Terms and Conditions.

How are the items posted?

Printed items are sent out using Royal Mail 48 Tracked, so you can follow your parcel and see when it’s due to arrive. Everything is packaged securely to make sure it reaches you in perfect condition.As I don’t carry a huge range of packing materials, I use the best fit available for each order.  This means that depending on what you’ve bought, your items may be posted together in one parcel or sent separately if that’s the safest and most cost‑effective way to package them. Why is there a 10 day turnaround for printed items?

Printed items have a 10‑day turnaround because everything is made to order.  Nothing is pre‑printed or sitting on a shelf - each item is created, checked, and packaged especially for you.This gives me the time I need to fit the printing and packing around my work and family life, whilst still making sure every order is finished to a high standard.Once your item is ready, it’s posted by Royal Mail 48 Tracked, so you can see it making its way to you. What paper quality do you use?

The paper thickness varies depending on the item, because each product is matched with the paper that gives the best quality finish while still keeping costs sensible for you. Some items look perfect on a lighter‑weight paper, while others - especially planners, or anything handled regularly - need something thicker and sturdier. Using one single paper weight for everything would either push prices up unnecessarily or reduce the quality of certain items, so I choose the most suitable option for each product.Every listing on the website includes a detailed description of what’s included, how many pages there are, and any components that come with the printed version. Where is my order?

Printed items are made to order, which means they go through a full process of printing, checking, and careful packaging before they’re posted. The standard turnaround time is up to 10 working days. This gives me the space to fit printing and packing around family life and my  work, while still making sure every item is finished to a high standard.Once your order is ready, it’s sent via Royal Mail 48 Tracked, which usually takes around 2 working days to arrive. You’ll be able to follow your parcel using the tracking number provided and see when it’s due to be delivered.If your order is still within the 10‑day turnaround window, it’s likely just being prepared.  If your parcel appears to be delayed or missing, please use the Royal Mail tracking service first to see where it is on its journey. If the tracking shows no movement or suggests the parcel may be lost, just let me know -  I’ll look into it and help you from there.

Do you ship outside the UK?

At the moment, printed items are only posted within the UK.  As everything is printed to order, packaged by hand, and sent using Royal Mail 48 Tracked, offering international postage isn’t something I can guarantee as a standard option right now.However, if you’re outside the UK and would really like to order printed paperwork, please feel free to get in touch.  Depending on the destination, the size of the order, and the available packaging, I may be able to look into international postage on a case‑by‑case basis. I don’t carry a huge range of packing materials, so I always use the best fit available for each order to keep costs down and make sure everything arrives safely. This means some items may be posted together or separately, depending on what offers the most secure and cost‑effective delivery.If international posting is possible for your location, I’ll let you know the options and any additional costs involved. Can I return or exchange printed items?

Printed items are made to order, so returns or exchanges aren’t possible unless there’s a genuine issue with the product. No, I don’t offer bulk printing as a separate service.  All printed items are created individually and priced as affordably as possible, so there isn’t a bulk‑order discount or wholesale option available.You’re still very welcome to place a larger order -  I’m always happy to print multiple copies of any item - but each product will be charged at its standard price.  This helps keep costs fair and consistent for everyone while still allowing you to order exactly what you need for your setting.

How do I track my printed order?

All printed items are posted using Royal Mail 48 Tracked, which means you’ll receive a tracking number once your parcel has been dispatched.
